I am pleased to have the opportunity to offer workshops for easing the transition into parenthood. Designed by John Gottman, Ph.D. and Julie Schwartz Gottman, Ph.D., the workshop is the result of 35+ years of scientific research and clinical work that focused on couples’ relationships, parent-child relationships, and children’s emotional and social development.

The Bringing Baby Home (BBH) Workshop is a two-day experience that teaches couples who are transitioning into parenthood how to increase their friendship, deal effectively with conflict, recognize the unique stressors that the addition of a baby can create, and become true partners in parenting. Research results from couples who have attended this workshop are very positive. The research found that these couples experienced and maintained higher levels of relationship satisfaction long after the workshop, and they also experienced a decrease in relationship melt-down and hostility.

In addition to the Bringing Baby Home 12-hour workshop, I also offer 2-hour core presentations. The following topics are available in the shorter sessions:

  • The Transition to Parenthood
  • Children and Parents: A Delicate Relationship
  • Making the Magic Last
  • Managing Stress and Conflict Regulation
  • Emotional Communication and Children
  • Creating a Legacy for your family

Please contact me to schedule a workshop or 2-hour core topic session. Now taking reservations for October 2010-March 2011.
